It is only mid-October, so Christmas can feel a long way off. But if you sell, ship or serve customers over the festive period, your packaging is best sorted now, not in the middle of the rush. A busy week is a bad time to find out you are nearly out of bags.
Why earlier is better
Most polythene packaging, including ours, is manufactured overseas, so there is always some time between placing an order and having it on your shelf. Ordering early gives you more choice and less pressure. Anything made specially for you, such as custom printed bags, usually takes longer than a standard stock item, so raise those first.
A quick checklist
- Look at last year. Did you run short of anything, or end up with too much? It is the best guide you have.
- Check it still fits. If you have added heavier items or new sizes, make sure your bags still suit them. Too small causes damage; too big wastes money and postage.
- Think about the whole journey. That includes what protects stock in the warehouse, what goes out the door, what customers carry home and what happens to the waste.
- Plan for returns. If you ship to customers, ask whether your packaging can cope with a second journey.
- Allow for extra waste. More customers means more rubbish, and refuse sacks are easy to underestimate.

Frequently asked questions
When should I order my Christmas packaging? As early as you reasonably can. Most polythene packaging is made overseas, so ordering ahead leaves room if anything is delayed. Raise printed or made-to-order items first.
Can you hold stock for me? Yes. Our stock holding service keeps agreed quantities ready to despatch, and we also keep stock of popular lines such as mailing bags and refuse sacks.
Can you supply printed bags with my branding? Yes, on a range of bags, envelopes and films. Printed items usually take longer than standard stock, so ask early.
